There are many kinds of RVs This includes mobile homes, travel trailers, fifth wheels, toy haulers, conversions, and more. Most types of RVs require a vehicle to tow it to where it's going. Some types, like motorhomes, for example, will have their own motors, so they can be driven from one location to another. However, even motorhomes need to be towed if something should happen to the motor. If you don't have a vehicle that is capable of towing your RV and you need to move it, then you will need to find an RV transporter. If you have never worked with an RV transporter before, then consider the following information.

Make transport arrangements as soon as possible

You should begin making the arrangements for the transporting of your RV as soon as you know the date you will be needing it and where you need it to go. By reaching out to reserve the transport early on, you will have a better chance of getting the date you prefer.

Prepare your RV for transport

Have your RV ready to go when they come to transport it for you. Some things that you want to make sure have been done include securing all of the cabinet doors, taking down pictures and other wall hangings, removing the propane containers, removing the antennas, and securing anything else that can move around or become damaged when the RV is in motion. You are also going to want to make sure the tires are in good shape and that they have the right amount of air in them. Make sure all of the lights on the RV's exterior are in working order.

Prepare the space the RV is in

You also need to make sure the RV can be easily reached, hooked up, and driven off. This means making sure there is a large enough area cleared around the RV and that any low-hanging tree branches that may be problematic are trimmed back. Move any other vehicles or items that may be in the way before the transport vehicle arrives. There also needs to be a driveway or clear area where the transport vehicle can pull in and out without going over curbs or other obstacles. If it is determined that your RV is located in a place that will not accommodate the size and operation of the transport vehicle, then you may be asked to meet them at a location that will work for the RV transport service. Contact an RV transport company for more information.
